Solomon Islands - Universal Periodic Review - Death Penalty - October 2025

Solomon Islands abolished the death penalty upon gaining independence in 1978 and are abolitionist for all crimes. The Constitution of Solomon Islands does not allow for the death penalty. Solomon Islands have neither signed nor ratified the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights or its Second Optional Protocol, aiming at the abolition of the death penalty.
