This report addresses Uganda's compliance with its international human rights obligations with respect to the death penalty and provides an update to the 2022 Report on Uganda's Compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights: Suggested List of Issues Relating to the Death Penalty. This report examines the current state of the death penalty in Uganda, as well as violations of the right to a fair trial in capital proceedings, detention conditions affecting people under the sentence of death and the treatment of Human Rights Defenders.
