Despite Supreme Court Ruling, #NoMuslimBanEver
The Advocates for Human Rights is deeply disappointed in today's decision by the Supreme Court upholding the Muslim travel ban. The Court's ruling in Trump v. Hawaii leaves in place the executive order banning travelers and refugees from certain Muslim-majority countries.
"Discrimination, bigotry, and xenophobia are not the values upon which the United States should stand," says Robin Phillips, executive director of The Advocates for Human Rights. "While the Supreme Court majority ignored the president's rhetoric, we must redouble our efforts to protect religious freedom, fight back against discrimination toward people of all faiths and from all countries, and allow families to be together."
The Advocates will stand with our community today at 6p.m. at the Federal Building in Minneapolis. The event will show the Court, the Trump administration and the American public that we will continue to mobilize against Trump's radical anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-refugee and white nationalist agenda.
The Advocates for Human Rights is part of the #NoMuslimBanEver coalition of nearly two hundred civil rights organizations engaged in legal, organizing and advocacy efforts to fight back against the Muslim ban. The campaign is led by Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Asian Law Caucus, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, San Francisco Bay Area, MPower Change, and the National Immigration Law Center.
