Gail Irish has been volunteering with the Refugee
and Immigrant Program since August 2014. Gail has
compassionately shared her linguistic talents as a
fluent French speaker and former ELL teacher with
us. She has consistently volunteered in The Advocates’ Monday morning case deliberations. These
are challenging days because we are charged with
determining how to honor the journeys of each person we interview while acknowledging the capacity
limits for staff and our volunteer attorneys. After a
morning of case discussion reviewing files focused
on case logic and feasibility, Gail spends the afternoon with someone hopeful to get our help but unable to provide any guarantees.
