This submission, co-authored by Reprieve and Middle East Democracy Center (MEDC), provides an overview of developments in the application of the death penalty in Egypt since Egypt's last Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in 2019.  Egypt has failed to implement supported recommendations from the previous review with respect to the death penalty and torture, and has continued to sentence individuals to death and carrying out executions in violation of its obligations under international law.
