This report addresses issues related to violence against women and discrimination against LGBTI persons, as well as related gang violence in El Salvador.As explained in the report, torture is prevalent in detention facilities and impunity persists.Despite the implementation of legislative and societal reforms, violence against women remains a severe problem in El Salvador. Gender-based violence includes domestic violence, sexual assault, and even femicide. Moreover, police in El Salvador consistently fails to adequately protect women victims of violence.
