Women's Human Rights Legal Internship

Location: Remote/ hybrid 

This internship is designed to provide individuals with a deeper understanding of gender-based violence issues domestically and internationally. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about both the Minnesota legal system and the UN human rights mechanisms. 

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • Researching international human rights instruments and country laws and issues related to violence against women and girls. 
  • http://www.stopvaw.org/Providing research and support for numerous reports, especially longer-term research on the far-right movement and other forms of violence against women.  
  • Assisting with research on activism and migrant support activities under Operation Metro Surge.
  • Supporting staff in preparation of social media campaigns, trainings, note-taking, and other missions. 

 Experience and qualifications

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
  • Strong legal research skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Sensitivity to diverse cultures
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong English writing skills
  • Proficiency in a second language is a plus

Required skills

  • Basic Microsoft Office 365 proficiency
  • Knowledge of citations
