Women's Human Rights Legal Internship

Location: Remote/hybrid
This internship is designed to provide individuals with a deeper understanding of gender-based violence issues domestically and internationally. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about both the U.S. legal system, domestic foreign legal systems, and the UN and regional human rights mechanisms.
Primary duties and responsibilities
- Researching international human rights instruments and country conditions, laws and issues related to violence against women and girls.
- Assisting with research, analysis and writing on activism and migrant support activities under Operation Metro Surge.
- Supporting staff in preparation of social media campaigns, trainings, note-taking, and other missions.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as footnote citation formatting, cite checks, and other related projects
Experience and qualifications
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
- Strong legal research skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Sensitivity to diverse cultures
- Fluency in English
- Strong English writing skills
- Proficiency in a second language is a plus
Required skills
- Basic Microsoft Office 365 proficiency
- Knowledge of citations
