Anne Applebaum
Anne is a Policy Manager with The Advocates for Human Rights’ Refugee & Immigrant Program and Women’s Human Rights Program. Her advocacy efforts focus on immigration, domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking. Her position collaborates with the Advocates’ WATCH and Immigration Court Observation Programs, volunteers, community members, partner organizations, and government stakeholders to advocate for system change to address the rights of immigrants and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking.
Prior to joining the Advocates, Anne worked at Violence Free Minnesota (domestic violence coalition) as the Housing & Economic Justice Policy Program Manager. Her role focused on education, outreach, and advocacy at the intersection of domestic violence and homelessness. Anne has partnered with the Advocates in various roles throughout her career. As an associate at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, she volunteered with the Advocates to provide pro bono representation to clients with gender-based violence asylum claims. As the Pro Bono Director at the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota she partnered with the Advocates to carry out joint programming and coordinated legal services efforts.
Anne received her law degree cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School and received a B.A. cum laude in Government from Skidmore College. She is admitted to practice law in Minnesota.
