Anne Applebaum
Programs: Women's Rights
As Director of WATCH Project Advocacy & Programming, Anne is responsible for managing project strategy, programmatic design, survivor and community partnership, and policy work related to the WATCH Project.
Anne's human rights work is driven by a sincere belief that we can—and must—end gender-based violence and create legal systems, as well as alternatives to legal systems, that are trauma-responsive, holistic, person-centered, and focused on healing and safety.
Anne began her legal career in 2010 as an associate at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, where she represented several pro bono asylum clients through The Advocates for Human Rights. She was also the Pro Bono Director at the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota for many years, where she oversaw the organization's pro bono programming and represented clients. Prior to joining The Advocates, Anne worked at Violence Free Minnesota as the Housing & Economic Justice Policy Program Manager, focusing on education, outreach, and advocacy at the intersection of domestic violence and homelessness.
Anne received her law degree cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School and earned a B.A. cum laude in Government from Skidmore College. She is admitted to practice law in Minnesota.
