In 2022, local leaders, soldiers, and police officers searched Mr. A’s home without a warrant and interrogated his family. In early 2023, a local leader and police officers searched his classroom and students. They accused Mr. A of giving political talks and organizing an anti-government youth movement. On late 2023, Mr. A was detained overnight, interrogated, and beaten by soldiers. They accused him of teaching about democracy and human rights and supporting the People’s Defense Force (PDF), an armed pro-democracy group.
