After his arrival in the U.S., J was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. His mother has been appointed as his legal guardian. She provides the necessary care and assistance by helping him manage his medications, medical appointments, and activities of daily living. J's mom has supported him his entire childhood and is able and willing to continue to serve in this role into young adulthood. Previously, J was unable to attend public school because his medical needs were too great. Since arriving in the United States, J has been able to attend school and receive speech therapy, job training, and other supportive services. J has also gotten his seizure disorder under control, and he has not experienced a seizure in approximately four years. He is looking for assistance in filing for SIJS
