Case Summary: Mr. MG, his wife, and two children are from an indigenous community. His uncle fought for the rights of indigenous people and asked the government to send police because a cartel wanted to take their property. Cartel members killed his uncle and threatened to kill the whole family. They left them letters telling them to be careful. They did not receive protection from the police because the police are allied with the cartel. Mr. MG tried moving from Guerrero to Tijuana, but cartel members found him and tried to kill him there. After this, he and his family came to the U.S. Since arriving in the U.S., two of his uncles and a cousin have been killed by cartel members.
