Case Summary: Ms. TA is an Afro-Descendent woman. In the spring and summer of 2023, she was sexually assaulted multiple times by Los Lobos gang members. The gang members threatened to kill her if she did not do sexual favors for them. Ms. TA believes she was targeted as a victim of sexual abuse because she is black. She says that black women in Ecuador are sexualized, and the gang members who assaulted her made multiple references to her race. Ms. TA fled Ecuador in July 2023 and came to the U.S. via the southern route.

Theory of the Case: Past persecution and fear of future persecution by non-government actors on account of race.
