Case Summary: In September 2024, cartel members came to Ms. SC’s village and told people to vote for a political party. A relative of hers objected and they killed him in that moment. The parents of that relative reported the murder to the police and she went to testify. Later that month, the cartel took Ms. SC, beat her and tortured her. They sexually abused her and threatened her, saying that if she did not leave, they would take her daughters and her and kill them. The next day she left for Morelos and the death threats continued to arrive by message until 7 she left for the U.S in early October. When she arrived, she changed her number and the threats stopped.
