Case Summary: Mr. B has been a member of the Union of Democratic Forces for Guinea (UFDG) since 2010. After the 2022 coup, the military government began cracking down on party members. In August 2023, military members showed up at his home and arrested him. When they arrested him, they told him he was a “dirty Fulani,” referring to his ethnic group. They claimed he wanted to overthrow the government and accused him of acting against the country. They told him they would make him disappear if he continued to protest against the government. After this, he was sent home, but he received a notice shortly after to appear in court. He appeared with an attorney, but he was arrested and detained anyway. He was detained and tortured for 2 weeks. When he was released, the police told him it would be worse if he continued to protest. He left Guinea after a man with connections to the military told him they were planning to do something worse to him.
